Production design, costumes and lighting for the opera „King Roger” by Karol Szymanowski
For me, King Roger by Szymanowski is an opera-mystery, exploring existential human desires, the line between individual freedom and its social limitations. The multilayer nature of the threads, symbols and allusions of this opera allowed me for in-depth analysis and a very personal interpretation. The world I create is an extrarational, hypnotic view of the transformation of the main protagonist.
This project could have been developed thanks to Julia Skrzynecka, MFA, assistant at the Studio of Production Design for Theatre and Opera under associate professor Paweł Dobrzycki.
